Firex Kidde 41213 AC Smoke Alarm Detector with LED Indicator, 120 Volt – 6 Count Pro Pack (CD-ROM) We ordered these smoke alarms, which were supposed to have a 10 year ‘life.’ When we received them, they were all 6 years past the production date and had only 4 years of ‘life’ left before they expired. We contacted the seller and they said we could return them, but we had to pay return shipping ($10.69 parcel post,) and there would be a $5.00 re-stocking fee. We contacted them again and asked for a free return shipping label, since these were so far past their new date, and we asked them to waive the re-stocking fee. They replied that we should have specified that we wanted freshly manufactured units before we ordered; or we should have contacted them before ordering to be sure we were ordering units that would have 10 years of life left. (When you buy a car do you have to specify that you want one that runs?) We contacted Amazon and got back our original purchase price, but got no help with the extra $15.69 that ordering from these bums cost us. This is a scam operation and should not even be selling on Amazon. Buyer beware big time. |

Smoke Alarm Relay Module - Activates Auxuliary Warning Devices - For Use with Kidde Smoke Alarm s – Kidde SM120X Bought this for the Kidde Smoke /CO detectors in my house. My ex-alarm company originally installed BRK relays on Kidde smoke detectors and they don’t work. Installation was simple enough if you are familiar with relays and know whether your alarm is expecting NC or NO switch. My only concern is the unit felt warm after it was powered up for a few minutes. The unit has a DC output so I guess it has a transformer. I don’t need the DC output so this is just going to waste energy. Overall I am happy with it, but it would be better with no DC output. The relay works great and the alarm goes off when I press the test button on the smoke detector. |

Smoke Alarm Relay Module – Activates Auxuliary Warning Devices – For Use with Kidde Smoke Alarm s – Kidde SM120X This unit worked fine for me. I have 5 Kidde P12010 Smoke Alarm (dual) Detectors plus 2 Kidde KN-COP-IC Carbon Monoxide detectors. They are all AC powered with battery backup and all are interconnected via the 3rd (red) wire. When one alarm goes off, they all sound (including the carbon monoxide unit) so it really gets your attention. I used the SM120X to interface it to my security/fire alarm system. I used the N/O contacts to connect into the fire alarm input of the security system. Press any of the smoke detector test buttons and the ‘FIRE’ zone on my security system activates which connects via telephone to my alarm monitoring company. The carbon monoxide detectors DO NOT activate my fire alarm system. If you desire this, I believe there is another similar module available. The carbon monoxide detector has a digital display which reads ‘Fire’ when the smoke detectors alarm. |
